Shonkeisha L. Byrd, DNP, APRN, AGACNP-BC, a doctorally prepared, board-certified adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner, earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Augusta University in Augusta, Georgia. Ms. Byrd obtained her Master of Science in Nursing Education and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Western Governors University and an Associate of Science in Nursing from Augusta State University. Her distinctions include Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing inductee, a Clinical Excellence Award, an Augusta State University Honors Convocation, a University Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae Scholarship, and a Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation Scholarship. Ms. Byrd has instructed biobehavioral nursing at Augusta University College of Nursing and co-authored research preserved in the WGU Capstone Archives. Before joining CenterWell in 2023, Ms. Byrd was an adult-gerontology nurse practitioner with Georgia Nephrology and, earlier, a registered nurse at Northside Gwinnett, Augusta University Health Care Systems, and Fresenius Kidney Care. Ms. Byrd's commitment to older adults inspires others. She also finds joy in sewing, reading, and ZUMBA.
