Dr. Neal P. Patalinghug recently joined the Care Team in Grove, AZ as a board-certified doctor of Family Medicine. He received his medical degree from Cebu Doctors College of Medicine, Cebu City, Philippines, and completed Family Medicine residency at JFK Medical Center, Edison NJ. Dr. Patalinghug has been in practice for 28 years, providing outpatient care to patients of all ages, but over the years, says he’s gravitated to caring for those over 50 years of age – managing multiple chronic illnesses and optimizing health. Dr. Patalinghug tells us he gets the most enjoyment when, from encouragement and education, patients do well enough to reduce their medication burden through simple dietary changes and exercise implementation. Addressing the root cause of illness rather than just giving lots of meds is his philosophy of care.
Before CenterWell, Dr. Patalinghug spent almost four years at North Country HealthCare in Lake Havasu, AZ, and 22 years at Meritus Health in Hagerstown, MD and Williamsport, MD. Dr. Patalinghug believes in spending time in patient education so that health improvements are better understood and simpler to attain. He defines the ideal doctor-patient relationship as consisting of great rapport and friendship, “so that we can help each other stay motivated and strong,” he adds.
Dr. Patalinghug is from a family of physician and nurses, and has two grown children, one of which is now entering medical school. When he isn’t caring for patients, you can find him tinkering with his ham radio and home improvements, hiking, mountain biking, and watching Marvel movies with his kids!
