Dr. Mitchell Adam Sanford, a board-certified family medicine specialist, completed a Choctaw Nation Family Medicine Residency in Talihina, Oklahoma, named chief resident. Dr. Sanford earned his medical degree and his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry (3+1 Program) from Oklahoma State University. His article on intermittent fasting vs. a restricted calorie diet was published in the Journal for Patient-Centered Research and Review, and his poster presentation on sleep apnea was submitted for the Oklahoma State University Quality Improvement Symposium. Before joining CenterWell in 2023, Dr. Sanford practiced family medicine at Memorial Health System in D'Iberville, MS. He feels his role is to listen and make recommendations to fit the person's circumstances based on evidence. Fascinated with the complexities of medicine, Dr. Sanford chose healthcare to help others doing work he loves. He shared, “My grandmother switched to a great, compassionate health provider, which gave me more time with her,” and he committed to becoming that provider for others. In his free time, he reads, plays board games with his family, listens to music, and watches documentaries with his cat on his lap.
