Dr. Grethel Veronica Ruiz is a fellowship-trained, board-certified family medicine specialist. Dr. Ruiz undertook a geriatric medicine fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine after completing the Dell-Family Residency Program at the University of Texas, Austin. She earned her medical degree from the Autonomous School of Medical Sciences in Costa Rica. Her honors include the Physician Practice Quality Improvement Award from Memorial Hermann-Physicians, the Resident Teacher Award and the Outstanding Rural Rotation Award from the Austin Medical Education Program, and the Humanitarian Award from the Universidad Americana. She serves as a preceptor at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Ruiz practiced at Legacy Community Health Services in Houston and was the geriatric medicine faculty coordinator of the Memorial Family Medicine Residency Program. Dr. Ruiz's commitment to senior care is a profession and a personal mission. She volunteers with the Bone Health and Osteoporosis Foundation and Hispanic Medical Association of Houston. Outside of her work, she enjoys the outdoors, Astros games, music, and quality time with her family.
