Dr. Ucheoma D. Nwaogwugwu joined CenterWell as a board-certified internal medicine specialist. Dr. Nwaogwugwu completed her internal medicine residency at the University Hospital of Brooklyn after earning her medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical Center in New York. Before joining CenterWell, Dr. Nwaogwugwu was a hospitalist in the northeast and has focused on complex, chronic conditions in her work with older adults. She served as the associate medical director of Accredited Hospice of America and as assistant medical director of United Palliative and Hospice Care in Houston, TX. Dr. Nwaogwugwu, born and raised in Queens, NY, comes from a family of doctors, so choosing medicine was in her DNA. What she likes best about her profession is building relationships with her patients. She says that the right doctor-patient relationship is one that has openness and honesty and where the patient feels comfortable asking questions and talking about anything. She believes that everyone deserves superior care. Outside of her work, she enjoys crafting, woodworking, reading, and spending time with her husband and family. She is active in her church, teaching children ages two to four.
