Yoel Olazabal Pupo, MD

Dr. Yoel Olazabal Pupo joined CenterWell as a board-certified family medicine specialist. Dr. Olazabal Pupo completed the Rio Bravo Family Medicine Residency Program at Kern Medical Hospital in Bakersfield, California, in 2019. He earned his medical degree from Carlos J. Finlay University of Medical Sciences in Camaguey, Cuba, in 1999, lauded with the Golden Honor Award. He served a family medicine residency at the North Polyclinic in Camaguey and as an assistant professor of internal medicine and pharmacology in Venezuela. He was later selected for a UCLA Department of Family Medicine clinical clerkship. Before joining CenterWell in 2022, Dr. Olazabal Pupo practiced at Sierra Vista Clinic in Bakersfield, CA, and Lamont Community Health Center in Lamont, CA. For him, “Taking care of the older adults allows us to repay in some way all the care they have provided to at least two generations.” He believes in listening to his patients to help improve their health and quality of life, a philosophy of care that resonates with CenterWell's values. Dr. Olazabal Pupo chose medicine to impact lives positively. Outside of work, he enjoys cooking, movies, and spending time with his family.
