Yasheka Shonte Roy, APRN

YaSheka Shonte Roy, DNP, FNP, joined CenterWell as a doctorally prepared, board-certified family nurse practitioner. Ms. Roy earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. After attaining her Master of Science in Nursing, she became an RN and held the position of charge nurse at Harbor Hospice and later Baptist Hospital, where she worked for 12 years, the last five as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Ms. Roy tells us that her patients bring her the most joy at work, and seeing improvements in their health makes her feel she's making a difference. At CenterWell, she enjoys the extra time she has with them and the knowledge that their health is important to everyone at the company. For Ms. Roy, patient satisfaction is about making them feel heard, meeting them on a level they're comfortable with, encouraging them to be more open about their health, and taking a genuine interest in their healthcare. When she is not working, Ms. Roy loves watching documentaries and spending time with her three sons. Ms. Roy spends a lot of time at church and is currently a middle school Sunday school teacher and member of the medical ministry at her church.
