Yamila Gomez Martinez’ career in medicine began more than 20 years ago in Matanzas, Cuba, where she earned her M.D. from the School of Medicine in 1998. After arriving in the U.S., Gomez Martinez decided to study Nursing and earned her Associate’s in Nursing at the University of Puerto Rico, and her Master of Science in Nursing from Florida National University in Hialeah, FL. She is fluent in English and Spanish and has been working at our facilities in Orlando since 2010, beginning as a Utilization Management Coordinator and Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician as well as a Nurse Care coach since 2018. Yamila says that what she enjoys most about working at CenterWell is the holistic approach to looking beyond a person's physical disease and seeing all aspects of their health. She appreciates the focus on healing the whole person through the body, mind, emotion, and environment, and says that being able to make a difference in a patient’s life is her greatest motivation. The right to quality medical care and privacy is important to Yamila. She ensures patient satisfaction by building rapport with both patients and family members, taking care to reinforce empathy and confidence. When she is not caring for patients, you can probably find Yamila spending time with her two children.
