Wayne C Burgess, MD

Dr. Wayne C. Burgess Jr., MD, is a family medicine physician committed to guiding patients toward healthier choices that support long-term wellness. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine and has built a career spanning more than three decades in family medicine. He has cared for individuals across all ages, with strong clinical interests in heart health, diabetes, and nutrition. Dr. Burgess has been an active member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Florida Academy of Family Physicians, and the Florida Medical Association. His philosophy centers on empowering patients through partnership, education, and meaningful conversations. Before transitioning fully into civilian medical practice, he served on active duty in the U.S. Navy from 1988 to 1995, including time in Sasebo, Japan, and with the 2nd Marine Division. Outside of medicine, he enjoys cooking, reading books, golfing, and spending time on personal interests that bring balance and fulfillment.
