Valerie Dawn Helm, APRN, a board-certified nurse practitioner, earned her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2014, following an accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Creighton University and a B.A. in Biology from Truman State University. With extensive experience in chronic disease management, she has focused particularly on renal and geriatric care. Before joining us in 2024, Ms. Helm was a nurse practitioner with Kidney Associates of Kansas City, where she specialized in managing hemodialysis and chronic kidney disease, guiding patients through complex treatments, including dialysis and transplant transitions. Previously, she served as an internal medicine provider with Kansas City Geriatrics, an acute care rehab hospital, and earlier treated seniors in skilled nursing, acute rehab, and long-term care. Ms. Helm chose her career to help people prioritize their health. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, traveling, and the outdoors.
