Sonia Smith, MD

Ms. Sonia Smith, MD, DBOM, is a board-certified Family Medicine physician with additional certification in Obesity Medicine. She earned her Doctor of Medicine from St. Christopher College of Medicine in the UK and began her career as a nurse practitioner before completing a comprehensive family medicine residency at Columbus Regional Medical Center. Dr. Smith has provided primary care in diverse settings, including urgent care, hospital-affiliated clinics, and large Medicare Advantage practices, with a strong focus on chronic disease management and preventive health. She has mentored and precepted medical students and residents, earning awards for teaching excellence. Guided by a philosophy of empowering patients and care teams through education and collaboration, she is passionate about diabetes, heart health, obesity, and addressing social isolation among seniors. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking and listening to music.
