During my 1st visit I disclosed that in the past I had a mental health diagnosis and was no longer on medication now seeing a psychiatrist. I was told that as a "mental health patient" I needed to see a psychiatrist and take medications for the remainder of my life. My recovery is something I have worked very hard to achieve and maintain and felt that was not listened to and instead was lumped into the "mental health patient" bucket. Even though i stated i did not wish to see a psychiatrist I was bullied into accepting a referral. Now I find out that my doctor will not renew my prescription for trazadone as that needs to come from a psychiatrist. I have been taking trazadone for many years for sleep and it has always been prescribed by my primary care. I would appear that I have no right to have any input into my care.
