Biography

Dr. Sohel thrives from seeing others do well and enjoys interacting with people from all walks of life. His chosen field allows him to do exactly both. He received his doctorate in osteopathic medicine from the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences and completed his residency at AMITA Health Adventist Medical Center in Hinsdale, IL. He is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians and is fluent in English and Urdu. Volunteer work is important to Dr. Sohel. Beginning in 2013, he volunteered to mentor underprivileged children at Higher M-Pact, in Kansas City, MO, and after medical school, spent a week in El Salvador providing free medical care to the local community. Since 2015, he has continued to volunteer at the American Muslim Community Clinic in Longwood, FL. He has worked in the healthcare field since 2017, which included multiple nursing homes during his residency. His most recent employment experience includes a role as Hospitalist at Advent Health in Daytona, FL, where he floated between four different hospital campuses. Prior to that, he spent a year as Co-Chief Resident at Family Medicine in Hinsdale, IL. Dr. Sohel believes in taking the time to listen to patients and, “make sure we come up with a healthcare goal together.” He defines the right doctor-patient relationship as one where the patient has equal say in their healthcare needs and goals. His philosophy of care is to treat every patient like his own family. One of the quotes Sohel lives by is from Muhammad Ali: “It isn’t the mountains ahead to climb that wear you out, but the pebble in your shoe.” When he isn’t caring for patients, Sohel enjoys spending as much time as he can with friends and family, especially his 2-year-old son. His hobbies include playing basketball, riding bicycles and going on trails
