Dr. Migdalis Matos-González specializes in Family Medicine and has been working in healthcare for 16 years. A native of Puerto Rico, she moved to Florida in 2011 and recently joined our clinic in Poinciana as a Primary Care Physician. Matos-González is fluent in both English and Spanish and licensed to practice medicine in both Puerto Rico and Florida. She earned her MD degree with the highest honors (summa cum laude) from the Universidad del Noreste in Tampico, Mexico in 2002, then completed her residency at the Manatí Medical Center back home in Puerto Rico. She began in General Private Practice for three years in Arecibo, PR, and the following two years she worked full time with one of Puerto Rico’s most recognized pulmonologists, treating patients diagnosed with pulmonary and sleep disorders. Later, she was an ER Physician and Staff Coordinator at Doctor’s Center Hospital in Puerto Rico and, after moving to Florida, has steadily worked as a Family Medicine Physician, starting at the Clark Clinic in Bushnell, CAC Florida Medical Centers in Pine Hills, and at the Sanitas Medical Center in Ocoee, before her current role at our center. Matos-Gonzalez says that it was a desire to help people that drove her to the healthcare field, and she enjoys listening to the stories of her patients and helping them reach their goals for a better quality of life. “I treat my patients like family; the way that I would want my family to be treated,” she says, and she believes that the right doctor-patient relationship is based on honesty, communication, and dedication. On a personal note, Dr. Matos-Gonzalez is married, and some of her hobbies include reading and watching TV. She is close to her mother in Puerto Rico and speaks to her every day.
