Dr. Marden Torrijos has joined CenterWell as a board-certified family medicine physician. Dr. Torrijos completed his family medicine residency at UIC Rockford, IL, where he led the Obstetrics and Gynecology Committee, in 2017, and an anesthesiology residency at the Salvadoran Social Security Institute (ISSS) in San Salvador, El Salvador in 2009. Dr. Torrijos earned his medical degree from Dr. José Matías Delgado University in El Salvador in 2003. He served as an Assistant Professor of Community Medicine at the University of Illinois, Chicago, from 2017 to 2021. Before joining CenterWell in 2023, Dr. Torrijos was a primary care physician with the Swedish American Riverwest Clinic and L.P Johnson Milesquare Clinic of the Swedish American Health A Division of UW Health in Rockford, Illinois. Earlier in his career, he practiced as an anesthesiologist at the Social Security Institute General Hospital, Medical Surgical Hospital, and Amatepec Hospital in San Salvador, and as a general physician at the Ministry of Health of El Salvador and Sensuntepeque National Hospital in Cabañas, El Salvador. He cherishes older adults and believes in providing compassionate, patient-centered care, aligning perfectly with CenterWells values. Dr. Torrijos chose medicine to impact peoples lives positively. Outside of his work, he enjoys traveling, antiques, collecting Swarovski crystals, music and shows about history, sci-fi, and the paranormal.
