She graduated from Baylor College of Medicine (BCM), completed a three-year Internal Medicine residency at BCM, and then completed a Geriatrics fellowship at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Sohail is board-certified in both Geriatrics and Internal Medicine, and speaks English, Urdu, and Hindi. For two years prior to joining CenterWell, she worked in the Section of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine at BCM as a geriatrics consultant and primary care provider. While there, she developed algorithms to optimize care of older adults undergoing complex surgeries, such as cardiac procedures and transplant, and collaborated with hospitalists to reduce risk of avoidable readmissions. She also served as a mentor to numerous Internal Medicine residents, medical students, and Geriatric Medicine fellows. Dr. Sohail entered the healthcare profession to make a positive change in people's lives and finds joy and purpose in her work. Dr. Sohail has extensive experience in taking care of older adults with complex care needs, such as cognitive impairment, mobility issues, and multiple chronic medical conditions. After having worked in multiple clinical care settings, Dr. Sohail is focused on helping her patients live independently and safely. Dr. Sohail has a team-based approach when it comes to her patients. She believes that decisions should be made in partnership with her patients, their families, and her colleagues. It is important to Dr. Sohail that patients feel comfortable sharing their concerns with her, and she works diligently to cultivate mutual respect, trust, and open communication with her patients and their families. When she’s not working, Dr. Sohail enjoys being with her family and exploring the outdoors. She is a big fan of the U.S. National Parks and has been to 11 of them in the past five years.
