Dr. Gan-Lim has been a physician for 26 years, is board certified in Internal Medicine, and trained in Geriatrics, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He earned his M.D. at Far Eastern University in his native Philippines with an Internal Medicine residency at University of Maryland in Baltimore. He speaks English and Tagalog, and came to CenterWell from Medical Group at Sun City, where he was a Staff Physician from 2006 – 2022. He was also a Hospitalist for Independent Practitioners of Nevada from 2004 – 2006, and was a Primary Care Physician and Hospitalist in Moline, IL, and rural Missouri. According to Dr. Gan-Lim, he initially followed in his uncle’s footsteps to become a doctor in the U.S., and later realized how gratifying it was to help people become healthier and influence positive health outcomes.
Dr. Gan-Lim says seniors are very grateful and have wisdom to share on how to approach life. He enjoys getting to know them and understanding their stories. In the brief time he’s been at CenterWell, he reports that he gets to see less than half the number of patients than in previous settings, allowing him more time with each one. Dr. Gan-Lim explains that, compared to fee-for-service models, where quantity is more important than quality, he much prefers CenterWell’s value-based model of care.
For patient satisfaction, Dr. Gan-Lim believes in active listening, and asking for feedback from the clinical team and Center Administrator. He sums up his philosophy of care as: “Let thy food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food”, Hippocrates.
During his time off, Dr. Gan-Lim likes to play tennis, and watching Netflix and YouTube from time to time. His wife is a nurse, and he is proudest of his daughter who is in the honor society and wants to be a physician like her dad.
