LaSondra Howard is a recent addition to our Care Team in Baytown, TX. She is a Family Nurse Practitioner with 12 years in the medical field. LaSondra tells us that she was motivated to enter healthcare by a desire to serve special populations – the underrepresented and underserved. An excellent student, she went on to earn two BS degrees with honors, and while working as an RN, got her Master of Science in Nursing at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, making the Dean’s List. Her healthcare journey began as a Medical Support Assistant at the Michael E DeBakey VA hospital, getting promoted to Registered Nurse in the ER once she got her Bachelor’s in Nursing. At Forest Health Clinic, she began working as a Family Nurse Practitioner, and more recently, spent three years at GEO Secure Services, examining and treating ICE detainees and inmates. She also worked for a private Internal Medicine practice treating patients of all ages and helping senior patients manage acute and chronic illnesses. As a Family Nurse Practitioner, LaSondra’s goal is to make a profound and powerful impact on her patients, and says she is enjoying CenterWell’s team-based care model. And when it comes to ensuring patient satisfaction, for LaSondra, listening, communication and respect are key. Blessed with an exceptional memory, LaSondra says she always tries to remember something unique about a patient, recalling things like specific lab numbers, sometimes weeks after their last appointment – an ability that tends to pleasantly surprise her patients! LaSondra has been happily married to a police officer for 15 years, and has a 20-yr.-old son, a 14-yr-old daughter, a 23-year-old stepdaughter, and two grandchildren. In her time off, she enjoys traveling with family, attending basketball games with her daughter, binge-watching a good Netflix series, and spending time with her new baby grandson.
