Dr. Kaba Berhanu, is a board-certified internal medicine specialist and has completed a combined internal medicine and family practice residency at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA. Dr. Berhanu earned her medical degree from the University of Massachusetts, known for its primary care program, where she received an International Travel Award for travelling to countries such as Mexico as part of her learning experience. Dr. Berhanu previously graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science from Sweet Briar College in Virginia and was inducted into the Tau Phi Honorary Society. Dr. Berhanu was a hospitalist at Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth, VA, and more recently at a long-term acute care facility in Richmond, VA where she has gained experience managing acute care patients. As an internist, Dr Berhanu has been caring for the population of the Hampton Roads area since the time of her training. She is passionate about caregiving, heart health, and exercise and believes in taking the time to listen to her patients is essential in enhancing their quality of life. During her free time, she enjoys running, creative writing, and creating memories with her family.
