Board certified in Family Medicine; Dr. Gainey has worked in medicine for 15 years. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina and the Medical University of South Carolina, and he completed his residency at AnMed Health in Anderson, S.C. Dr. Gainey says he chose healthcare as a profession so he could be in a position to help others with his talents. In his current role at the Powdersville clinic, he enjoys the companys holistic approach -- providing care for the entire person and not just a problem -- which aligns with his own philosophy of caring for the whole patient and his relationship to each one. Gainey has always worked with seniors, starting back in medical school, when he participated in a senior-based pilot program. Since then, as an Urgent Care and Primary Care physician, he has always treated patients in the 65+ population. Gainey believes that the right doctor-patient relationship is based on open communication and trust, and that by encouraging questions, understanding and sharing decision-making is the way to ensure patient satisfaction. Dr. Gainey says he lives by the physicians guiding maxim of: First, do no harm. On a personal note, Dr. Gainey is the father of three boys and his hobbies include listening to music, reading books on almost every topic, and hiking.
