Dr. Gwendolyn Bowers has joined CenterWell as a board-certified Internal Medicine specialist. Dr. Bowers earned her medical degree from Des Moines University School of Osteopathic Medicine. She obtained a Master of Science in Biomedical Science from Barry University and a Master of Public Health from the Milken Institute of Public Health at George Washington University. She received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Xavier University of Louisiana. After an internship at the University of South Alabama, she served five years as an active-duty General Medical Officer with the United States Navy in Beaufort, SC. She pursued her specialization at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, VA, and completed her internal medicine residency at Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira, NY. Before joining CenterWell in 2023, Dr. Bowers practiced at the W.J.B. Dorn Veterans Administration and was previously a regional medical director of the South Carolina Department of Corrections. Earlier, she saw patients at Prisma Health Medical Group in Columbia, SC, and provided Medicare physicals with Humana. She believes in treating her patients with the same time, dedication, and commitment, shed invest in those closest to her, a care philosophy that reflects CenterWells values. Dr. Bowers chose medicine for the immense privilege of helping others. In her free time, she enjoys her family, church activities, antiquing, traveling, and volunteering.
