Deborah Honeycutt recently joined the CenterWell team at our Old National facility in Georgia as a board-certified Family Medicine Physician and has been in the profession for almost 30 years. She is a graduate of the University of Illinois’ medical school and residency program, and is a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. Prior to CenterWell, Honeycutt worked for two-and-a-half years at the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center, in a private practice for 20 years, and at Georgia Baptist Hospital for seven. At the Chickasaw Nation, 90% of her patients were over 50 years of age and she finds similarities between the CenterWell care model in the attitude toward elders and the scope of health and wellness benefits offered to older adults. Dr. Honeycutt’s philosophy of care is to treat each of her patients as a beloved family member, and when it comes to ensuring patient satisfaction, she describes her role as “being a servant to each one of them.” Dr. Honeycutt sees the ideal provider-patient relationship as a partnership in reaching mutually agreed-upon goals. According to Dr. Honeycutt, she became a physician to help people get and stay healthy and that the best part of her profession is seeing lives changed for the better in all aspects – not just in terms of physical and emotional health. She adds, “My love of people has been the cornerstone on which my care of all patient populations has been built.” When she is not working, you might find Dr. Honeycutt spending time with family, reading, attending theater events, or visiting museums. On a personal note, Dr. Honeycutt is married to a veteran who is currently a college professor. She also has six children and ten grandchildren.
