Dr. David Maury has 43 years of experience in all aspects of primary and urgent medical care. He is board certified in Family Medicine and was Medical Director of several nursing homes and hospice facilities prior to joining CenterWell in West Orange, FL. As an M.D. with a wealth of experience, his choice of career affords him the flexibility of practicing clinical medicine, doing research, or teaching. However, having always worked “fee for service,” he says he is enjoying CenterWell’s value-based environment, especially, getting to know his patients better and spend more time with them. Maury is an alumnus of Fayetteville State University and speaks English and Spanish.
Ahead of CenterWell, Dr. Maury worked at The Villages Health Clinic for four months; CareSpot for about two years; and Southwestern Medical Hospital for about five years. Prior to that, he was self-employed for about 27 years in a private practice. He sums up his philosophy of care as: “First do no harm” and “A sound mind in a sound body.”
Dr. Maury’s recipe for patient satisfaction is to understand his patients and strive to address their concerns thoroughly. He defines the “right” relationship with patients as: “One in which I can relate to their needs and where they understand my concerns for their medical and emotional care.”
Maury served for 13 years as both as an enlisted man and officer in the U.S. Army, and worked in the U.S. Army Medical Corps for seven years. He has been married for 50 years, and is also a general aviation pilot in his downtime. When he is not flying or caring for patients, Dr. Maury likes to spend time with his close-knit family and do home maintenance. He has three grown children and one granddaughter.
