Dr. Chinmaye Bannerji has joined CenterWell as a board-certified family medicine specialist. Dr. Bannerji completed her family practice residency at Portsmouth Family Medicine, Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia, in 1996. She earned her medical degree from Mymensingh Medical College, Mymensingh, Bangladesh, in 1979. Before joining CenterWell in 2023, she worked at Tricare Prime Clinics in Virginia. As a primary care physician, she also worked at Naval weapon center, Yorktown; Tidewater Multispecialty group in Newport News; Bon Secours Maryview Medical center clinics in Portsmouth, and First Choice Medical Center in Virginia Beach. Prior to her career in the United States, she maintained a solo medical practice in Mymensingh, Bangladesh, from 1980 to 1983. Passionate about heart health, diabetes, and caregiving, Dr. Bannerji feels drawn to working with older adults. She believes listening to her patients helps to enhance their health and quality of life, a care philosophy in harmony with CenterWell's values. Dr. Bannerji chose medicine for its countless opportunities to impact people's lives positively. Outside of her work, she enjoys the outdoors and gardening.
