Abraham Teklu, M.D., MPH, is a board-certified geriatrics specialist. Dr. Teklu performed his geriatrics fellowship at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical College after completing his internal medicine residency at Marshall University School of Medicine. He earned his medical degree and a Master of Public Health (MPH) from Addis Ababa University Medical Faculty in Ethiopia. He has co-authored articles in publications such as the Annals of Long-Term Care and conducted a Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice study on HIV transmission and prevention. He serves as the chairman of the Richmond Ethiopian Community Services. Dr. Teklu was an Assistant Professor/Hospitalist at the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Quality Health at Virginia Commonwealth University. Experienced with post-acute care, long-term care, and assisted living, he has worked with Legacy Care and in facilities such as The Laurels of Bon Air and Lakeside Health and Rehab. He actively volunteers in the community, administering COVID-19 vaccines and conducting testing as part of the Virginia Medical Reserve Corps. In his free time enjoys family time, golf, and playing music at home.
