Originally from Cuba, Dr. Orlando Díaz has been a medical professional for over 30 years. He trained in as a family doctor and completed his residency at the Facultad de Ciencias Médicas in Pinar del Rio, Cuba. After leaving the island, he spent five years in Central Africa as a General Physician and Professor of Medicine, where he communicated with patients and students in French. Once in the U.S., Díaz attended the University of Miami, where he graduated cum laude with both a Bachelor and Master of Science in Nursing, making the Dean’s List and graduating with honors. He then earned a General Physician diploma in Puerto Rico, United States. He speaks fluent Spanish, English and conversational French. Prior to that, he spent four years as a Nurse Practitioner in a private Internal Medicine practice, and two years at St. Catherine’s West Rehabilitation Hospital, also in Miami. One of Díaz’s unique qualities is patience. His philosophy of care is based on scientific recommendations, always mindful of a patient’s spiritual beliefs. He defines the right patient relationship as based on mutual respect and ensures patient satisfaction by listening, not judging, and always keeping safety in mind. Dr. Díaz is married, has two grown children, and is happy with the paths their lives have taken. When he is not caring for patients, he enjoys family time, going to church, watching TV and visiting interesting places.
