Nancy Stepanek recently joined our Wyandotte center in Kansas City, KS as a certified adult and psychiatric nurse practitioner. She has been working in healthcare for the past 30 years and feels she was born to be a nurse bandaging her dolls with toilet paper at just 2 years old! Nancy earned her Bachelors in nursing from St. Lukes College of Nursing, a Masters degree and Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) credentials from Vanderbilt University, and her Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) post-grad certificate from the University of Missouri Kansas City.Prior to CenterWell, Nancy spent a year at CrownView Medical Group, 11 years at Southland Primary Care and, for a decade before that, in hospice care for various organizations. What Nancy enjoys most about her workday is solving problems, connecting with people and helping them feel listened to. As a Nurse Practitioner, she believes that listening is key to ensuring patient satisfaction, and that her role is to assess and provide a treatment plan, knowing that patients have the right to make decisions about their health. According to Nancy, the right provider-patient relationship is whatever works for that patient, and her philosophy of care is to simply do her best for each one.Nancy has spent most of her life caring for adult patients in various fields: primary care, mental health and hospice and she has assessed, diagnosed and treated from adolescents to geriatrics with both acute and chronic conditions. Shes cared for seniors as a home health aid, hospice nurse, oncology nurse, and general med/surg nurse. As a nurse practitioner, she has treated seniors in primary care, psychiatric and skilled nursing, long-term care, and assisted living facilities.Nancy has six children and two grandchildren. When she isnt working, she likes to spend time with her family, take walks with her husband and read.
