Dr. Gitnacht has been practicing medicine for ten years. He is board certified in Family Medicine and has two fellowships one in sleep medicine and another in Occupational & Environmental Medicine. He attended UNLV, UCC and University of Minnesota meanwhile having an MPH degree in his list of credentials. A desire to help aging populations and compensate for a lacking healthcare system was what led Dr. Gitnacht to study medicine. What he finds most rewarding is making a difference in his patients’ lives. At CenterWell, Dr. Gitnacht appreciates the opportunity of being able to practice medicine “the way it should be practiced – where patient care comes above everything” and a big part of that, he says, is the time he is given to get to know and treat his patients. “Getting to know my patients and listening to their concerns are premier aspects of my practice,” he says. He acknowledges that patients need to feel comfortable with their provider, cared for, heard, and understood. And caring for every patient as if they were a family member sums up Dr. Gitnacht’s philosophy of care. His advice is, “Don’t leave the exam room until the patient feels comfortable and satisfied.” Dr. Gitnacht has worked with seniors in primary care, urgent care and emergency settings in treating a wide variety of patients with extensive medical histories and multiple concerns. Most recently, prior to joining our center, Dr. Gitnacht was at Healthcare Partners in the urgent care department. His training and fellowships allow him to treat a variety of conditions including chronic and acute illness as well as sleep disorders. He is fluent in English and Spanish, and in addition to having held teaching positions in Occupational & Environmental Medicine, is currently an adjunct professor at Touro University.
