An Adult and Geriatric Nurse Practitioner, Elaine Grimes-Dixon just joined our team in Greenbriar, GA. She is an alum of Maryville University in St. Louis and Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee, and has two Master’s degrees. Grimes-Dixon has 28 years’ experience in the healthcare field, beginning as a Staff RN at John Doyne Hospital in WI, and more recently, as a Care Manager Team Lead at Humana, where she spent 17 years partnering with seniors suffering from chronic conditions. Over the course of her career, Grimes-Dixon has worked with seniors in a number of clinical settings, including assisted living, family practice, skilled nursing facilities, as well as in patient homes. From the time she was a nursing home volunteer as a teenager, young Elaine found service to be very rewarding. Combining that with an interest in science and how bodies worked, her choice of profession would be in a caregiving capacity. Ideally, Elaine believes that the provider-patient relationship is a partnership that’s built on respect, trust and motivating her patients toward wellness. She says that the best part about being an NP is seeing her patients reach their health goals, and she ensures patient satisfaction by active listening, honoring a patient’s wishes and being non-judgmental, empathetic, and transparent. On a personal note, Grimes-Dixon is married, and her hobbies include gardening, dancing, roller skating and spending time with her 14-year-old daughter. She is also proud to be the first member of her family to follow her dreams and graduate college.
